In October 1812, six thousand American troops were sent to Lewiston, NY, to invade Canada. Despite outnumbering the British 4-to-1 and killing the revered British commander, Gen. Isaac Brock, the Americans lost after the militia refused to cross. We are commemorating and reenacting this major battle on the actual anniversary dates. Reenactors, artillery units, sutlers, merchants, artisans, interpreters -- all are welcomed. Numerous activities include: battle, parade, demonstrations, school field day (bounties paid to reenactors who arrive early) and evening cannon bombardment of Canada from the U.S. shore. Americans will camp in Lewiston, NY; British in Queenston, Ont. Call today to get your contact info on our list to receive important event updates. Keep checking back. Online registration will be available soon. Inquiries, please call Volunteer Director, Lee Simonson at 716-754-8414. |
